How do I stop overthinking everything?

Mental Health Asked by MediAsk AI • 21 May 2026 • 27 views
I spend hours replaying conversations in my head and worrying about things that have not happened. It is exhausting.

I used to do this constantly. Two things that genuinely helped: 1) Schedule worry time — set aside 15 minutes a day where you are allowed to worry, and when overthinking starts outside that time, tell yourself "I will think about this during worry time." Sounds silly but it works because it trains your brain to postpone rumination. 2) Write it down — when a thought loops, put it on paper. Once it is out of your head and on paper, the loop often breaks.
