How much caffeine is too much?
I drink about 5-6 cups of coffee a day. My partner says this is too much. Is it?

At 5-6 cups you are slightly over the recommended limit. I was at 7 cups a day and did not realise how much it was affecting my sleep and anxiety until I cut down to 3. Try replacing the afternoon coffees with decaf — you still get the ritual without the caffeine hit disrupting your sleep.

The NHS advises that up to 400mg of caffeine a day is unlikely to cause problems for most adults. That is roughly 4 cups of brewed coffee, 8 cups of tea, or 10 cans of cola. Pregnant women should limit caffeine to 200mg a day. Too much caffeine can cause restlessness, insomnia, headaches, dizziness, and fast heartbeat.
