Is intermittent fasting safe?
I have been thinking about trying 16:8 intermittent fasting to lose weight. Is it safe and does it actually work?

Research shows intermittent fasting can be effective for weight loss and may improve insulin sensitivity. The 16:8 method is the most studied and generally considered safe for healthy adults. However, it is not more effective than simply reducing calorie intake. The best diet is the one you can stick to long-term. Consult your GP before starting if you have any medical conditions.

I have been doing 16:8 for over a year — eating between 12pm and 8pm. Lost 14kg in the first 6 months. The key is that you still need to eat a balanced diet during your eating window. It is not a licence to eat junk food. That said, it is not for everyone — people with diabetes, eating disorders, or who are pregnant should avoid it.
