What does high cholesterol feel like? Are there symptoms?

High cholesterol does not cause symptoms. You can only find out if you have it from a blood test. Your GP might suggest having a test if they think your cholesterol level could be high, based on your age, weight, family history, or other conditions you have like high blood pressure or diabetes.

This is the scary part — there are no symptoms until it causes a serious problem like a heart attack or stroke. That is why regular testing is so important, especially if you have a family history. I had mine tested at 40, it was 6.8 (should be below 5), and I had no idea. Now I manage it with statins and diet changes.
