My employer does not provide safety gloves or protective equipment. Is this legal?
I work with sharp knives cutting fish and my employer has never provided cut-resistant gloves. I have cut myself 3 times.

This is ILLEGAL. Under the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992, your employer MUST:
- Assess the risks in your workplace
- Provide suitable PPE free of charge (cut-resistant gloves, safety boots, ear protection, eye protection)
- Train you in how to use PPE properly
- Replace PPE when it is worn or damaged
- Ensure PPE is properly maintained
For knife work in food processing, cut-resistant gloves are essential PPE. Your employer is breaking the law.
